"Today, we covered Mirrors. Specifically, we looked at the flat mirror, concave mirrors and convex mirrors. We looked at the different situations that arise with different configurations of object to mirror distance. Then, we applied the lensmaker equation for mirrors, and finally calculated the image magnification using object and image distances."
"We made good progress today, covering Tutorial 10 with the power triangle, power factor, real power, reactive power, and apparent power. We also briefly covered voltage dividers in Tutorial 9. The student picked up on the concepts quickly, and showed proficiency in these concepts by the end of the lesson. I recommend that she goes over the rest of the problems from Tutorial 10 before our next session tomorrow, so she can find out which questions she understands and which ones she needs help with."
"I helped the student work through his review packet. We reviewed concepts related to finding the delta H of a reaction using the delta H of reactants, radioactive decay, and gas laws. The student was stuck on some of the math in one of the radioactive decay problems, so I broke it down into a simpler problem, which allowed him to solve it."
"We reviewed the student's physics homework problem assignment covering x-ray diffraction, energy/wavelength/frequency of light waves, the photoelectric effect, work function, kinetic energy of electrons, de Broglie wavelength, emission spectra, and the uncertainty principle. The student had a solid understanding of most of this material after discussing the logic of each problem thoroughly. We had difficulty with one problem involving a particle in a box - I encouraged the student to ask her professor about the best way to approach that problem."
"First we went through her homework on percent yield and determining limiting reagent. Then we did practice questions since she hasn't got her exam guideline yet. We covered questions in stoichiometry, equation balancing, nomenclature, and reaction types."
"We reviewed cellular respiration and photosynthesis. We are working on memorization of topics and making sure to know all the little details. The student just needs to spend time studying. The student has a great attitude. We also practiced IB Biology questions, and the student was able to answer a lot of the multiple-choice questions."
