Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In this session, we covered the use of the standard normal distribution to solve problems related to non-standard normal distributions including confidence intervals, percentiles, etc. We me briefly and will meet again tomorrow morning."
"The student and I had a great session. He seemed to pick up everything really well and understood everything I was laying out to him. He gave me good feedback, which was really helpful. We went over combinations and permutations (probability) and the concepts of statistical measurement. I also left him with some combination and permutation problems for him to work on until the next time we meet."
"The student and I reviewed for an upcoming exam. He had some issues with vocab, some equations and their applications. We made sure to go over every aspect he had concern over. Topics involved sampling methods, empirical rule, and regression. He was able to grasp all concepts as we reviewed. I had him try out some problems and examples to prove his mastery of the material. He spent the rest of the session completing a study guide."
"The student and I spent a lot of time working on finding the difference between independent and disjoint probability, and practiced with problem sets. We will be doing more conditional probability next week."
"The student and I talked about crude rates for her epidemiology class. She was struggling a little bit with understanding how to take demographic percentages, population size, and incidence of illness by 1000 people in each demographic and process that into a crude rate. I worked backward with her from the first question where the information was presented in an easy to understand way outside the age table and showed her how to derive that information from the table. Then I followed her through the next few problems where she did the same thing for other cities to make sure she was understanding the process. She did the last part of the problem completely independently, so I think the process clicked for her. She still has the rest of the homework to do and hopefully can use what we went over to help her finish it."
"The student and I went over ACT math sections. We were able to get through 3 sections of 12 problems each. He excelled in each section, scoring 10/12 on each section. We will pick up where we left off in the next session."
