How can a tutor help your child master the HSPT?

Getting into a private or vocational school of choice depends on your child's score on the High School Placement Test (HSPT). If you want to be prepared, a professional HSPT tutor in Seattle, WA, may create study sessions to try to help your student make the most of their abilities and excel on their exam. Since it tests knowledge and skills in many subjects, adequate preparation is necessary. Your child's tutor may assess their proficiency in language, math, quantitative, reading, and verbal skills, as these are covered in the test's primary sections. Some schools include their own custom section, while optional topics may include mechanical aptitude, science, and Catholic religion, which the rightly chosen tutor may help with.

To connect your child with HSPT tutoring in Seattle, call Varsity Tutors today. The exam is notoriously challenging. It consists of close to 300 questions and, at 2.5 hours, tests your child's endurance to its limits. Start your child off with a tutor well in advance of the spring or fall testing sessions. The tutor may meet at your home or any other location where your child is comfortable learning. Lessons may be during the day, in the evening, or on a weekend, and the week-to-week scheduling is flexible. Your student's tutor may meet also face-to-face online, with a live learning platform designed to foster remote test prep and instruction.

Seattle, WA HSPT tutoring
I specifically covered her homework which was solely verbal. I can see her improving and am glad. She scored roughly an 85% which is great considering the ~70% it initially was. Afterwards I gave her some quantitative reasoning questions and saw improvement as well. As I had mentioned previously, she is stellar in reading comprehension. I did leave her with extra practice and do not have any concerns from this session.

We reviewed some of the math concepts from the last lesson, including comparison of integers and simplifying exponents. We also discussed strategies for acquiring vocabulary. In addition we went over the types of questions that could appear in the verbal section: word lists, synonym questions, and antonyms. Both students have a good general vocabulary but will need to acquire more words for the test. I asked them to go through the test preparation book and find all words whose definitions they do not know or of which they are unsure. I will be creating digital flashcards sets on the website for them to practice these words.
