Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student has a test on text structure on Friday. Today we practiced identifying the different types of text structures in paragraphs and he also used the graphic organizers to identify information from the stories. He also practiced math word problems using addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. I left some math homework problems for him to work on."
"I covered the homework for Monday and Tuesday with the student. For social studies, we completed chapter 8 "Life During the War" lessons 1-4 by writing the definition and one example for each vocabulary words, drawing a line connecting each person to what that person did, filling in word webs, and filling in the sequence chart. For math, we converted units to complete each equation, completed each conversion table, problem solving/voc. check/test practice. For reading, we read "Calm Koalas" and answered the questions, filled in for the correct answer and wrote the spelling word that goes with each sentence."
"In this evening's session, the student and I primarily addressed homework tasks. Tasks were completed in the area of math, specifically decomposing fractions, and vocabulary development. The vocabulary task included a word meaning component, as well as a question and answer sentence composition component through which the student demonstrated her understanding of the given vocabulary words. The sentence composition component also provided an opportunity for us to work on grammar mechanics."
"Last Thursday, I worked with the student on her LA summer reading project. I also had her show me her notes from Social Studies, and correct the errors she had made on the map and worksheet. We squeezed in some math practice as well."
"Reviewed previously assigned homework. Introduced two digit by two digital multiplication, inferencing, drawing conclusions, and direct objects. In addition, the student completed revision to writing assignment to vary sentence structure."
