Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Both students worked with me on preparing for the exam. We used online practice tests to focus primarily on reading comprehension. We discussed strategies for eliminating incorrect answers and choosing between two reasonable answers. With Student A, we also worked on the writing portion of the exam. We viewed sample student answers to questions and discussed the criteria for a solid written response. Student B and I used our remaining ten minutes to read from a novel of her own."
"We read several chapters in her school book about Thomas Edison together. Her reading is getting better. She also wrote notes about Thomas Edison and his inventions in her class notebook. As her reading skill increases, so will her spelling. Overall, it was a good session."
"I worked with the student on her Yellowstone "Curiosity Quest" project. We looked through some relevant editions of National Geographic, added to her project notes, worked on a bibliography, and collected photos online to use in her presentation. She is making good progress. She works best in an organized environment. In our first meeting, she did not have her materials with her and was feeling very overwhelmed, but this time she had her tabbed notebook-binder for the project and a project checklist and was not overwhelmed. She really likes the subject matter. She retains new information well and shares it enthusiastically with others. She is definitely on track for this project, but will have to do a bit more concerted research."
