"We practiced limits- limits at definite numbers, finding limits using factoring, and limits as x approaches infinity."
"The student and I covered determinants, matrix algebra, partial fraction decomposition, and systems of nonlinear equations. She was a bit rusty on her matrices, but needed little help with everything else. We'll keep at it."
"In this session we reviewed sequences from our last session and moved on to cover series. We discussed the notations and formulas, and tied everything together from the two sections to have an overall understanding of the topic. We covered all his notes and homework in preparation for his quiz. He seems to be doing very well in his class and in understanding these topics."
"We went over limits of rational functions. She struggled mostly with recognizing where the asymptotes went. Once we went over some problems, she understood it better. She was a little timid at first, but after while she felt confident about the work. We went over quick ways to determine asymptotes, which made it easy to graph the functions. We went over her review packet. She understands the work all right, but she still could do some extra practice."
"The student and I continued to go over AP Calc exam practice sections and problem sets. The topics we covered were position, velocity, acceleration; natural logs, exponential, and log functions; the integral; inverse derivative; u-substitution; and definite integral. It appeared that he felt comfortable with the majority of the topics that we covered, but needed help with inverse derivatives. We went over the section in the practice exam book, but I asked him to go over the sections and problems again on his own."
"Today we went over the flashcards on all 2-d geometry concepts. The student is well prepared and has memorized several formulas that will speed up his test. The second part of the time was spent solving one full test. We used a full scale test that is considered more difficult than normal. The student showed complete conceptual knowledge and was able to solve all questions independently. We did discuss various approaches to solving problems, and we did update some strategy flash cards in the process. Nevertheless, the speed of solving problems can be improved, and the last few days will be spent on drilling through the questions to gain speed."
