Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We spent a good deal of this session reviewing the student's homework assignment. We closed by reviewing the basics of objects in preparation for next week. I assigned a randomized program, as well as a program for creating multiple-colored rectangles, using the randomization techniques we have been practicing."
"The student completed his assignment, which was to write a couple functions. We spent the rest of the session talking about the difference between passing by reference and passing by value. We went over an example that illustrated how passing by reference works. He was struggling a little bit with some Python syntax, though it seemed like he understood conceptually what to do. I'm currently unsure if this is indicative of a lack of familiarity with Python or a lack of familiarity with the underlying programmatic principles. We'll explore that further in future sessions. He was focused during the whole session. I hope that in the future he speaks up a little more to help me know when he does understand something and when he doesn't."
"We went over the problem from last week in detail and really focused on the design of it and talked through the logic of what we do at each step of the way."
