Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed for an upcoming test on stoichiometry. We completed the review worksheet on molar mass, mole ratios, limiting reactants, and percent yield."
"The student has a test coming up, so we reviewed electron configurations. The student would sometimes obtain the right answer using a long method (i.e. finding which element has 1 electron in its 7s orbital by counting electrons needed to get to the 7s orbital). I reminded him that the preferred method would be to use the orbital trends associated with the periodic table. We also discussed periodic trends, the relationship between frequency and wavelength and difference between energy levels and sublevels."
"During this session we mostly focused on stoichiometry. We reviewed molar ratios and how to find the amount of a product given the amount of a reactant. We mostly focused on limiting and excess reactants and how to figure out which reactant is limiting and which one is in excess. We also spent time on percent yield and how to find it given the amount of limiting reactant and the amount of product that was actually recovered."
