I also went through and corrected his work so that I would have a baseline on what needs improvement and where he needs to focus his energy. He asked me to help him find more synonyms for the words in the text; I showed him how to use the dictionary as a tool for these situations. I left him to finish chapters 5 and 6 by Thursday.
