Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student reported she passed all her reboot quizzes from December before winter recess. This week, we practiced converting decimals to percents, simplifying fractions, determining GCF, and changing fractions to percents. She has great confidence in the skills and is prepared for concept check at the end of the week. She and I will incorporate multiplication tables into our sessions for review."
"The student and I spent time talking about irrational root theorem, fundamental theorem of algebra, finding roots of equations, end behavior of polynomials, and sketching graphs of functions. I think he's in pretty good shape for his exam tomorrow."
"The student has completed Unit 8 assignments and will work on the Unit 8 final test for homework. Once that is completed, she has an interim final and then the class final and then she'll be done. She currently has a B+."
"Today was my first session with this student. We started off going over his last test and from there we moved to going over questions he had. We covered how to solve percentage word problems, simplifying fractions, fraction addition, fraction multiplication, how to turn a fraction into a decimal, and test taking techniques. When I left, he and I agreed that he should go over the notes from today's session and do some practice problems. I will briefly cover the topics again next session to make sure that he feels confident with what we covered. Overall, I think the session went really well. he asked very good questions and he was quite attentive to what we were covering."
"We reviewed a couple concepts that the student wasn't completely sure about to prepare for her final tomorrow. She brought up simplifying expressions by combining like terms, solving for zeroes, and using the quadratic formula, which she all knew. She needed a refresher on simplifying expressions by factoring, using exponent rules, solving equations with square roots and domain and range. She was able to recall all of those concepts after we went over the related questions. She didn't fully understand domain and range, so I provided tips and things to look out for."
"This session covered entirely chemistry concepts of types of reaction. The student was pretty confused at the beginning of the session as a result we ended up reviewing a lot of information not just for the hw she had today but previous material as well. Initially she was not as engaged due to her confusion but as the session went on, I tested her understanding of the material thoroughly and she demonstrated excellent understanding. Her extra practice is to redo homework problems and reread previous sections."
