How can a Science tutor help you?

Science is a body of knowledge that stresses the importance of observation and experimentation to deduct information about the nature of our universe and life on planet earth. This includes topics like biology, zoology, physical science, and more. In the state of Texas, students are tested on their science abilities by the state mandated State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness, or STAAR exam. If your child is currently taking a science class and is struggling, or is getting ready to take their STAAR exam, one great way to get them some extra help in the learning process is by signing them up to work with a private tutor. Varsity Tutors' educational directors enjoy helping students in Round Rock, TX, find a science tutor, so call us today to get your child started.

When you sign your child up to work with a private tutor, they'll gain access to a professional educator who is an expert in the field of science. That access means that they'll always have someone available to answer their questions, which can be a huge time-saver over needing to find that information themselves. Also, their tutor will work with them to first identify their weaknesses and then will develop a targeted lesson plan designed specifically with those problem areas in mind. Ultimately, both of these factors serve to make studying with a private tutor a much more efficient process than studying alone. Taken together, these benefits mean that Varsity Tutors' Round Rock educational directors can find a professional tutor in science who could make your child's study sessions a fun and more positive experience.

Science Tutoring review by Benjamin in Round Rock, TX
The student has a very good understanding of the basics. We discussed her old exams and I made sure she knew how to get the correct answer. She again understood the basics and why she made the mistakes she did. We then went on to describe Sn1, Sn2, E1 and E2, type reactions. We then paged through her book to further explore the properties that allow these reactions to happen. I encouraged her to read her chapters and write out the reactions multiple times to encourage muscle memory.

Science Tutoring review by Manuel Gerardo in Round Rock, TX
The main focus of this session was reinforcing the concepts of Sn2 and Sn1 in a practical setting, such as a lab, while also reviewing new ideas such as E1 and E2. We went over a pre-lab worksheet where we predicted if certain reactions would be favorable under specific reactions. The part that the student needs to work on the most is identifying certain characteristics that correspond with specific reactions; he is able to perfectly explain the mechanism of each. He understands the fundamental concepts.

Science Tutoring review by Kristin in Round Rock, TX
The student and I worked on more concepts in enthalpy and entropy. We calculated equilibrium values for selected chemical reactions and determined which direction each reaction would proceed. We then completed problems focusing on Le Chatelier's principle. Additionally, the student calculated solubility equilibrium equations and did very well with the math components on all the homework sheets.
