"The student did very well with analogies; he correctly answered all but one question. He mastered the math practice and did very well with reading as well."
"We conducted a series of practice tests because this is the week before the exam. I want to make sure that she gets as much practice as possible before the exam."
"Yesterday, the student and I worked on the verbal and math sections in her ISEE and SSAT prep book. She continued to develop her vocabulary list as she worked through the verbal section. We also discussed strategies for guessing strategically when dealing with unfamiliar vocabulary words, including thinking of words with similar roots, looking for context clues (in part two of vocabulary) and eliminating obviously wrong answers. We also talked about how to think about the relationship between the words when there are two blanks in the sentence (such as the whether the words should be similar or opposites). While working on the math section, we continued to focus on little tricks for making arithmetic simpler, such as setting up division problems as fractions and identifying ways to reduce and turning some common percents into fractions. She has been studying proportions in school and we talked about how she can apply what she's learned about proportions to many of the SSAT math questions that can be set up as proportions. We concluded by beginning to discuss the essay portion of the test. We talked about what might make for a good subject for the given essay prompt. Before our next meeting, she is going to complete at least one SSAT essay that we will then go over together."
