Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I had our last session before her exam next. We went through each section with me tracking the time per question. Overall, the student is within the time limits of each section. We discussed the strategies for each section and how using a few key tips (such as working from the answer choices, reasoning rather than working out, and finding key words) would help preserve her time and increase accuracy. She did best in the verbal and reading sections. At the end of the session, I provided her with tips for the morning of the test and emphasized that this test is only one part of her application."
"We focused on the Reading Comprehension section today. We went over the tips I had written out for the student on how to approach reading passages and the questions, did several examples together, and added to the list of tips. I finished the session by timing her for 2 passages to see how she'd do on her own and with the amount of time she'd have during the actual exam. I encourage her to underline as she reads the passages."
"The student had the results from his practice test today. Reading comprehension and verbal were strong scores (80/90%), but his math was not as strong. He is solid in his math concepts; however, his pacing needs practice, and he was not able to take his time on the last 5 to 7 questions of each math section. Therefore, going forward, we will focus on how to pace in this section in order to ensure that he has adequate time to answer each question. He will finish reviewing missed questions, then he will take a 36 minute practice test before next session. We will discuss the results as our next session."
