Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we worked on ACT Math and reviewed the problems missed on ACT Math Test 2 from the a study guide. The student scored 39/60 on the test overall, a scaled score of 24, and finished the questions with about five minutes of extended time. This score noted good progress over previous math scores. The problems missed dealt with trig identities, circles, algebra, and the laws of exponents. We will continue to review these areas."
"Today was my first session with the student, which was productive and very useful for diagnosing his comfort with the material and confidence as a test taker. We split our time between English, math, and reading. His English skills are at a great place, especially with usage and mechanics, punctuation, and the like. His math is also very impressive, as is his ability to effectively solve problems without a calculator. He also has an innate ability to guess wisely and use process of elimination quickly. I identified for him where those skills were helpful while also explaining how he can check his work using equations and substitutions. Reading, as with most students, seems to be the area we will need to focus on, particularly with respect to pacing. So I would like to spend a good deal of our time in the next session looking at that. We will work on strategy for reading and look a lot at science when we meet later in the week. Good work!"
"Today, we worked through a math review, covering SOHCAHTOA and other advanced math concepts like arithmetic sequences. We covered a lot of ground, and it was a good session."
