Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today, we covered how to prove lines are parallel using the converse of the corresponding angle theorem. Once we went over it, she understood the concept very well, as it is very similar to the relationships of angles that she has been working on all semester. We went over several problems to make sure she understood the concept."
"Today, we covered the concept of a proof by contradiction and worked through the student's assignment together. We also reviewed the parts of a triangle, including angle bisectors, perpendicular bisectors, medians, and altitudes and the various problems that could be asked regarding them."
"Today, we covered transformations of geometric shapes on a coordinate plane. For most of the session, we looked at dilation. For the rest of the session, we looked at reflections across various lines."
"Today, we covered writing two-column proofs for triangle congruency and determining angles, sides, and general variable values for special case triangles. The student had a positive attitude, as always, and is persistent in learning the material. We continued to work in the same method as previous sessions, by doing some practice problems together to help her better grasp some of the concepts and techniques for solving. She stated that she is starting to feel much more confident in the material and that definitely doing practice together helps her tremendously. She has an exam coming up on this material before finals, so we will see how she has progressed afterwards."
"Today, we discussed theorems for congruent triangles and proving congruent triangles in addition to solving for orthocenters and circumcenters. The student was struggling with setting up the answers for solving and proving for congruent triangles. He knew the majority of the material, but it seems like he just needs more practice. I included a few strategies and skills for him to use when working with these kinds of problems. I will be sending the student practice problems over the next few days. After having my first session with the student, I feel like I have enough to work with to make him more confident in himself to solve future problems of this type correctly and with confidence."
"Today, we focused on inscribed angles of circles, and their relationship to arcs. We also discussed the special relationship of an inscribed angle that intersects a diameter. Finally, we reviewed factoring quadratics to help him prepare for algebra 2."
