Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During our session today, we reviewed material for the student's upcoming math exam. The questions included word problems about even and odd numbers, and counting by 5s and 10s. Overall, he demonstrated good understanding of the concepts and is gradually improving with his math skill. At the end of the session, I administered a practice test to him, which he performed well on. In the next session, I will provide him with additional practice before his next math exam."
"During today's session, the student and I focused on reading fluency and multiplication review. He is a pleasure to work with and is highly motivated. We plan to continue to build confidence in reading and math fluency throughout our time together."
"For math homework we covered estimation, and she did well at rounding and adding. We also covered geographical locations for her social studies test. We did a little spelling also with word sorts."
"For this session, she did not have math homework from class. However, she does have a test this week on frequency tables and histograms. Histograms she's doing great with, so she completed the problems I gave her quickly and correctly. She had a little trouble with the frequency tables, but a review on the three parts of the table (range/title, tally, and the frequency number) helped her to get a better understanding of the topic. After some more review problems, she felt more confident for her test. I left her more practice problems at the end of the session to help her study. Next session, we'll work on the next topic her class is on."
"For this session, we practiced answering multiplication problems from the times tables of 6-9, and we worked on some multiplication and division problems that the student had been given in class. Overall, he is doing well with the times tables; she is significantly better at the 8s than she was last week. The areas where she seems to struggle a bit more are with listing the factors of a number and understanding how to figure out the answer to a word problem. While she largely has the times tables in the bag, she is less experienced with more complex multiplication problems, so I plan to work more on those in future sessions. I would also like to include more division problems and word problems in later meetings, since she could use some extra support in those areas."
"Great session with the student today! I realized that his teacher and I get our practice problems from the same types of places! He's moved on to least common factors, and we first focused on his homework which he had no issues with. From there, we focused on identifying factors, as well as identifying prime vs. composite numbers. He was trying to work things out for himself first before asking for help, and seems confident with these topics which is great! Overall good job!"
