Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed for the final by going over gas laws and pH. Overall, the student seems very well prepared, and any further questions he has should be answered during the in-class review tomorrow. Good luck with the final!"
"The student and I completed flash cards for her science final review. We then reviewed the flashcards together and discussed the definitions of the concepts she was unsure about (i.e., why do objects float). We also reviewed her social studies questions."
"Today we solved a problem together and went into extreme depth, analyzing the problem over the course of the session. We covered weak acid-strong base titrations as well as foundational concepts concerning acids and bases. I left the student with some practice problems. I think today's session was very rewarding and helpful for the student."
"Reviewed for chemistry final. Reworked questions she missed on the review packet and then discussed the topics on the review sheet she felt least confident about. Did an overview of the topics she had covered this semester."
"The student is preparing for her Chemistry final. She said she is currently sitting at a B in the class which is great! We worked on electrochemistry this time around and she did great. She always asks really good questions during our sessions, she seems very aware of her strengths and weaknesses which is something you don't see in students all the time. We will have a couple more sessions ahead before the final."
"Today the student and I got to know each other, and we went over several concepts. I had him take a short diagnostic test for the SAT (molecular kind) since I wasn't sure what kind of biology-related SAT he is going to take, and he did well. We then went over the cell cycle, mitosis, and meiosis. I gave him some acronyms and pop questions to help him retain the information he has already learned. He remembered everything and I was impressed with how much he recalled. We then went over translation and we talked about the steps of translation and how it is part of the central dogma. I also told him that he could take notes, and he did. I told him that I would send him a video on cell division and give him some notes I created that cover the concepts we went over. He did really well and he had good questions. It was nice meeting him!"
