Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We began session by reviewing Kanji sentences the student had for homework from the past few sessions. We also talked about grammar points such as "tsurete iku/kuru/kaeru" as well as "motte iku/kuru/kaeru." We spent a majority of the session having conversations about a party hosted by me and a party hosted by the student and what we should bring, etc. We spent the last bit of session creating a theme for a Japanese club at school, what to bring, and how to ask people to bring something. Great job today!"
"We worked on a review of homework from the student's class. It was to read and translate a chapter describing a person's appearance, including clothing, hair, accessories, etc. Then, the homework was to pick a picture of a celebrity and to describe about their appearance in Japanese. The student did read the chapter very fast and completed the homework very fast."
"The student reviewed adjectives from previous sessions, and learned several more today. In addition, we went through the steps of adding the Japanese keyboard on his computer so that he can type in Japanese during our sessions. At the end of the session, he started making flashcards for all of the adjectives (~20). He should continue to practice these between sessions."
"Today, my student and I worked again on the numbers, or "die Zahlen." We practiced these for the entire hour, because she has a test on the numbers on Thursday. I broke it down from 0-10, 10-20, and then 30, 40, 5, 60 ... 90. I had her both say the numbers out loud and had her type them out so she can practice for when she needs to write them down. "
"We worked on a range of exercises from the student's workbook (ch 1, greeting words; ch 1 and 2, numbers; ch 3, nouns and verbs; ch 4, position words). His homework is to complete the exercises we worked on and begin more."
"We worked on reviewing kanji, since it's been a while. For not using Japanese for a while, the student remembered everything well. I left her with more kanji practice."
