Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I had a brief session today. We talked about adding more time on the weekend if need be. In the time we had, we worked on overall organization for his writing project."
"Student A wrote three sentences about Mother's Day. His penmanship has improved a lot over the past couple months. Then, he worked on addition and subtraction problems. Subtraction is still a bit more of a challenge for him. We will continue to work on this. Student B told me that he was done with his homework already, and so I had him read aloud from "Diary of a Wimpy Kid." He actually wanted to keep reading the book after the session was over, and I encouraged him to do so."
"The student and I worked on his writing summary for the narrative that we read on ice skating. He then worked on copying the first paragraph for handwriting. After talking about the outline for his summary, he wrote an independent piece. We then worked on one of the writing exercises on main ideas and supporting details. After writing, we worked on an addition/subtraction worksheet."
"The student led the session, and it was beautiful! She said her spelling words correctly. They had like spellings using /ou/ like cloud and count. Then she went on to write all the words identifying the short and tall letters. After that, she read some high frequency words like would, should, each, and ear. Great job! I did not have to remind her to pronounce/ blend the sounds together, instead of individually. Way to go!"
"The student and I were able to focus solely on skill building tonight. We worked on story sequencing and understanding paragraph details by writing them or identifying them within paragraphs. We'll continue this work on Wednesday."
"For today's session, we first review the uppercase letters A-F. The student demonstrated the ability to identify each letter. She took a quick assessment and got a perfect score. After that, I taught the lowercase letters a-f. We did many hands-on activities to reinforce the learning. I did leave her with practice materials for her to continue practicing."
