"The student started to learn synonyms and we completed the assignment by helping her write the spelling word that is a synonym for each underlined word given; I also guided her to circle words that are the names of special people, places or things. As for social studies, I helped her to find the answers to complete each sentence about important famous figures in the American history. She also has a math test on Thursday and so we completed the homework assignment and gave her a mini-exam related to the covered material, which allowed me to go over the ones she missed."
"The session began with me checking the student's math homework on multiplication. She had a couple of errors involving missing zeros and misplaced commas so we talked through some strategies for double checking. Next, she gave an oral summary of chapter 10 of Judy Blume's "Tales of a 4th grade Nothing" that her class had just completed. She then completed a graphic organizer I created for her to analyze the characters, plot, etc. Next we discussed her creating her own story and I helped her develop the characters and plot which we will use next session to help her be more invested in learning some reading comprehension strategies and techniques, while also working on writing, fluency, and vocabulary. I gave her guidelines her story must follow including words she must use and words she cannot use."
"The student worked on counting coins for his math homework. We also read a story about coins and completed a reading comprehension worksheet. He was very focused. It was very successful."
"During today's session, the student and I worked on her weekly spelling words. She practiced spelling the words, providing definitions, and creating detailed sentences using assigned words. We also went over her language arts homework. She struggled with prepositions, so we worked on using and identifying them in sentences. Finally, we read several pages of her assigned reading book and then worked together to produce a summary. Overall, it was a great session!"
"Student 1 and I studied her spelling and vocabulary words. We also went over her math homework. Student 2 and I worked hard today, studying for his language and science finals, in addition to reviewing his homework for the evening."
