Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We alternated the students for 45 minutes each to help with their attention, and this approach seemed to help. Student 1 completed his practice test. I suggested he change his method and had him do a second mathematics achievement section to see if that helped; his score was raised by one full mark, and knowing this I think he gave my advice much more credence. Student 2 did quite well also, and continues to excel on math problems of various types (we worked on some geometry at this session). He also answered some questions on reading comprehension passages and is showing improvement in attention to detail. He did alright when presented with some vocabulary flashcards but could stand to improve his vocabulary to bring it to a comparable level with his math brain."
"Today, the student completed his third -- Upper Level -- Practice Test. Specifically, he finished Sections #3 and #4. On Section #3, Reading Comprehension, he correctly answered 35 out of the 36 questions (97% -- Bravo!). His past scores for this specific section (Reading Comprehension) are: Test #1 = 90%, Test #2 = 69%, and Test #3 = 97% (his best score yet on this specific section). After he completed the Reading Comprehension Section, we reviewed / went over the one question that he got wrong. We then moved on to Section #4, Mathematics Achievement. On this specific section, he got 34 out of the 45 questions correct (76%). His past scores on this section (Mathematics Achievement) are: Test #1 = 79%, Test #2 = 62%, and Test #3 = 76%. After he completed the Mathematics Achievement Section, We went over / reviewed all the questions that he got wrong. He was able to determine the correct answers with very little help from me. He is making good progress in his Exam preparation. He is a very bright student who is motivated to learn and improve. He is always focused on the task at hand. Thus, our tutoring sessions are very productive."
"The student and I worked from the official testing guide. I walked her through the structure, rules and test format of the exam and we worked a few practice problems from each section. We reviewed some math concepts she hasn't seen in school yet (exponent rules, percentages, working with negative numbers)."
