Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today, we covered probability and combinatorics in detail, with much success; the student is feeling much more comfortable with the material. Next session, we will cover sequences and the least common denominator."
"We began by reviewing the student's goals and expectations, as well as her self-perceived strengths and weaknesses. The first area we worked on was geometry, and included deriving line formulas, proportions of classic right triangles, and the relationship between linear aspects and areas of figures. We then did data analysis, where we focused on probability and formal logic (Venn diagrams)."
"We completed the quantitative section of the GRE prep book. We then continued on to the Verbal section, covering Chapter's 3 The Geography of the Verbal Section and Chapter 4 Text Completions. For our last session this Sunday, the student will complete reading Chapters 5, 6, and 7 and all the drills at the end of chapters 4, 5, 6, and 7."
"We continued to review reading comp strategy, focusing specifically on long reading comp. We then reviewed reasoning questions, including short reading comp that are structured as arguments. The student has a solid foundation and should continue to work on reading comp on a regular basis, forcing himself to go slowly and evaluating whether he is correctly pulling out the relevant information."
"We continued with practicing more math problems. I can tell the student has been practicing on his own, because he is quickly identifying the concepts that pertain to the question, and is able to at least get things started. More review of some of the tips/ tricks/ rules related to triangles and other shapes will be useful, as these frequently come up on the exam."
"We continued working on math practice problems and focused on rate and probability. Then, we talked about strategies and types of questions on the reading comprehension section. We also talked about the 2 types of essays for the writing section."
