Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We focused primarily on passe compose and imparfait. We did two separate exercises to help her practice identifying the different between the two. By the end of the session, it was a little easier for her to identify when it was necessary. I will give her some scanned pages of grammar explanations in addition to what she is learning in class. She says she has a quiz Tuesday on this. I am confident she will do just fine. It's a complicated topic, but she seemed to be absorbing it OK and was confident enough to ask questions when what I said did not makes sense."
"We studied the plus que parfait tense. The student was very good. His only issue was the verb of the 3rd group, so we focused on that extensively at the end of the session. He was positive. We went over the rules of the formation of plus que parfait (when to use it). He explained to me that he felt confident about the upcoming test, and he thought he did well on the test he had this past Friday."
"We went over how to conjugate regular verbs in present tense, irregular verbs in present tense, passe compose, and imparfait. We also talked about how to know when you should use the imparfait and when you should use the passe compose."
"Today we reviewed for the student's upcoming exam. We started by reviewing chapter 9 and looked at the grammatical concepts that he needs to know for the test. We will be meeting on Friday and will design a number of activities to cover all of the concepts listed for his comprehensive exam."
"Today, we corrected the student's homework on French accents. He did very well on the exercise, but there were a few corrections to be made and a rule to emphasize. We also studied his upcoming vocabulary regarding safaris, which included some new phrases like suppositions and some nouns like spider and savanna. He also wants some help learning a poem that he has to recite in class, so once he sends me the transcript, I'll try to make some audio files for him to study. This should give him a good way of practicing his pronunciation before having to recite the poem."
"I corrected and made a few changes to exercises that the student did. We also practiced conversation using pronouns, adverbs, and vocab from the unit. She is doing well, both in writing and speaking/comprehension."
