Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student did a great job in learning today. We covered so much in reading. We did letter sounds, beginning sounds, ending sounds, matching letters, and sorting letters with sound."
"The student wanted to review additional economics topics focusing on international trade. Specifically, we discussed examples of trade protection strategies (or barriers), including tariffs, quotas, embargoes and administrative barriers, and subsidies. We also reviewed arguments for protection strategies. I provided her with two graphs that demonstrated the "effects" of tariffs and quotas, and she found these to be very helpful."
"The student and I went over a homework assignment on tangent lines to circles. We went over the two most important tangent line theorems: tangent lines are perpendicular to the radius they intersect, and tangent line segments from the same point are congruent. We practiced some problems and discussed the consequences and applications of these two theorems."
"The student is a joy to teach. She is a sponge when it comes to reading and the English Language. Her vocabulary is very advanced. She has completed the grade 7 vocabulary, and she has begun Book B of vocabulary. I am looking forward to seeing her creativity with using these new words in sentences. Great job!"
"We reviewed the student's homework and practiced a few new problems in hopes of better clarity. I'll be initiating homework and attempting to convey the conceptual idea of the mathematical processes."
"We reviewed causation and correlation, distinguishing facts from inferences, and using diagrams to organize conditionals. Focus on knowing what elements to look for before you look at the answer choices. We reviewed how to ensure that two situations are analogous. For logic games, focus on how to work on examples methodically. Make your deductions before looking through answer choices. For reading comprehension, make sure your answer choice matches a particular line or pair of lines in the passage."
