Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student is getting ready for his chemistry final that is on Monday. His professor is giving a standardized test for the final which is a review of everything from general chemistry one and two. He did really well in understanding the concepts that we went over, but he has a little more trouble with setting up the problems. We started working through a practice test to give him an idea of what he will be facing on the final. We went over a lot of electrochemistry, equilibrium, and acids and bases. We worked through about half of the practice test and we will continue working on it when we meet tomorrow."
"We covered naming organic molecules. I used teach back during this session. The student maintained a positive attitude. I provided a worksheet with additional practice."
"Conducted a full review of acid base chemistry with focus on pH, pOH, concentrations, and electrolytes. Completed practice to solidify when to use certain equations or formulas using log functions to devise concentrations of acids and bases. Conducted an overview of determining acids, bases, conjugate acids, and conjugate bases."
"We went over equilibrium. There were some key ideas that the student wasn't familiar with going into the lesson, but with some intensive review and practice problems, she was getting much more proficient by the end. At the end of the session, we dabbled in Hess's Law and other principles of thermodynamics. We will likely pick up there next time."
"We prepared for the final by going over the second exam. The student is doing well in understanding quantum transitions. She just needs encouragement in that she is grasping the concepts correctly. We went over each problem to make sure she understood each part and it went very well."
"We completed the final part of the student's study guide review on Ch 8 for upcoming exam tonight. She definitely shows great improvement and is understanding the concepts more. She stated she is more confident for her exam tonight and will let me know if she needs any help in the future."
