Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I talked about proofs in more detail than last time. We covered a couple new proof formats, then did 4 or 5 practice examples from her textbook. She definitely seemed more comfortable and less frustrated with this material than last time, but it'll definitely just take more time to be fully adept at proofs. I left her with one quick assignment this time - collect one comprehensive list of all theorems and postulates she learns in class in order to make it easier to study and test herself."
"The student and I went over examples and exercises about the following topics: a triangle's midsegment and its application, proportions, how to determine convex and concaves, polygons' interior and exterior angle measurements, and calculations of areas, height, and base of rectangular shapes and squares."
"The student and I went over her homework and there were definitely some holes, which we delved into. She tried, and she got there in the end!"
"The student and I went over her practice packet to include the following concepts: quadrilaterals and the properties of each one, finding slope, distance, and midpoint, quadrilateral proofs, right triangles and angles, and properties of angles. I challenged her to continue to take her time while answering each question making sure her work is thoroughly shown."
"The student and I went over her problem areas from her assessment and also the problems she struggled with on her test. I gave her homework to come up with some topics she is worried about, and we will make them more understandable together during our next session."
"The student and I went over her quiz. This was our first session so we spent time trying to figure out how she learns best and what works best for her. On her quiz, we determined, after a review of the answers, that the errors were not due to a lack of understanding of the material. We also reviewed the concepts of logic and the laws of syllogism and detachment while completing her homework for this section."
