Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student has now started his second semester of university physics. This semester focuses on electricity and magnetism. We went through the homework for the first chapter which focused mainly on electrical fields and forces. Some of these problems are tricky but with a little time and effort the formulas, concepts, and problems should sink in nicely for the student."
"The student and I covered both Physics and Algebra 2 today. We started with physics, and I answered her questions about the homework and started her on some power problems. She has a test on Friday, so we basically just prepared for that. Her main concern was that she didn't understand what power was conceptually. I spent time going over how power, work, and energy are all interrelated and that power is just the rate of work. (P=W/t) I also explained that both power and work cannot exist without energy and that energy is basically the "currency" for both of them. We then reviewed her Algebra 2 homework. I showed the student how to identify an asymptote in an equation and then write an equation for the asymptote. The student rocked finding the domain and range today! I saw huge improvement from when we first started working together, and she didn't even know what domain and range meant."
"We covered today's lesson in algebra, specifically taking roots and solving systems of equations. She finished her homework and she plans to go in early to confirm the answer to the last problem. In physics, we discussed free-body diagrams, weights, forces, and accelerations. We took our time to finish the hard problems so he could thoroughly understand the relationship between the normal force and the friction force."
