Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
" Went over weathering of rocks and the factors that determine its speed and effectiveness. Discussed physical and chemical weathering; their similarities and differences. Discussed water's role in the process of weathering, both physically and chemically. Also went of the formation of soil from the process of weathering. Went over DNA components and structure. The makeup of nucleotides and the different nitrogen bases that make them up. We discussed genes and their relationship to DNA. The differences between DNA and RNA. The role of DNA and RNA in the production of proteins. The different forms of RNA involved in protein synthesis (mRNA, rRNA, and tRNA). Also discussed the process of DNA replication and the proteins that assist in the process."
"During this session, a study guide was reviewed and partially completed for the upcoming midterm, which will cover evolution, genetics, cellular respiration, and photosynthesis. Most of the evolution portion was reviewed and memorized by the end of today's session."
"In this session, I helped the student prepare for her ecology test the next day. It was a fairly short unit compared to others, but it evolved around a keen understanding of the biological processes. We went in depth about the carbon, oxygen, and nitrogen cycles, and how those were interrelated with each and within the environment. We also focused on symbiosis. I gave the student many examples to practice to determine the type of symbiotic relationship in nature."
