This exercise was particularly helpful for him because news articles are concise, so it was good practice. He also focused on the who/what/where/when/why, which is applicable to all kinds of writing. He structured his article well. I also worked with him on some words he spelled incorrectly, helping him sound out words and think about them before attempting to spell them.

He and I worked on a practice essay for the ACT/ SAT. He did a good job of clearly stating his perspective or point of view. We discussed providing three clear examples to support his point of view.
