He just had one point (0,1) on each graph, so we talked about the shape and making an x-y table for two points: x=0 and x=1 to get a general idea of the shape. For geography, he created and we reviewed 23 flashcards for Chapter 2. Each card included a definition and example. For English, he created a PowerPoint presentation concerning a magazine article. We reviewed for content and grammar.

In today's session, we worked our way through two of the student's online homework assignments (6.3a-b). These assignments were over factoring polynomial expressions where the leading coefficient is not equal to 1 by grouping both when the middle term is already separated into two and when it is not. The student was challenged, initially, with the latter, but I walked her through the steps of how to know what to separate the middle term into. She picked it up pretty quickly, and was able to complete the problems without my assistance.

The student completed his homework which was to solve systems of equations using the elimination/addition technique. We have done this many times before and he has improved a great deal. When he finished his math, we focused on his English assignment which was to read "The Cask of Amontillado," by Edgar Allen Poe. He had to answer some questions after completing the story. We read it together and I helped him to understand the questions.
