Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over manipulating equations using logs and how log properties affect those manipulations. We also reviewed factoring of equations involving complicated exponents. The student was confidant in her work and required only slight guidance for a few problems. I greatly look forward to our next session."
"We went over new worksheets dealing with determining the excluded domains of functions, and, for some problems, finding solutions of cubic equations. The student's teacher had given the class a relation: (a**3 + b**3) = (a + b)(a**2 - ab + b**2), and she wasn't sure when to apply this relation to some of her worksheet problems. We went over all the problems to answer any questions she had. I pointed out that there are multiple ways of solving cubic equations, and that her teacher would give the class the methods (in this case, the relation above and another for (a**3 - b**3)) to get the equations in more familiar forms."
"We went over polynomials with degree larger than 2 finding roots and finding equations based off of the graphs and may other nuances. I can tell he was challenged to his brink because he had a difficult time processing the questions I was giving him. Otherwise, his attitude was great. If he needs another session before his exam on Thursday, we can set one up and replace the Friday one."
"We went over probability, particularly with independent/dependent events, joint probability, and conditional probability. He had no issues with of the concepts and identifying certain events and calculating probabilities of multiple events. I then gave him some advanced formulas and equations to use with certain conditions. He needed a little bit of assistance, but after a couple of practice runs, had no problem using them in most applications. We spent the rest of the session going over homework problems."
"We went over solving and graphing inequalities and inequality functions. The student mostly needed help with how her teacher had explained the concepts that was unclear. She seemed to have a good understanding of the material by the end of the session."
"We went over some test corrections. I have suggested to her that she should leave 10 min in the end of her test time only to go over everything she did. The student also worked on her homework. She asked me to have an extra session this coming Thursday. I'm glad to help."
