Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we started with a quick review of sentence completion questions and reading comprehension questions. Then we looked at the sentence completion chapter more in depth and talked about context clues/ words in the sentence that signal what they are looking for in the blank. We then revisited reading comprehension passages, and she did quite well. For the last 30 minutes we went back to looking at some quantitative reasoning questions and worked on word problems. For homework I assigned one complete reading comprehension section and I asked her to start looking at the vocabulary chapter and making a list/ flashcard set of words she did not know."
"Following last session's assessment and analysis, I created a new set of exercises to continue developing and testing the student's mathematical skills. Warm-up exercises focused on equations of lines, which she did very well on, and the remainder of the session's work centered on more advanced upper level ISEE mathematics. Skill sets covered in today's session: area of a circle, circumference of a circle, area of polygons, perimeter of polygons, and coordinate geometry. These exercises were timed and notes were documented. Our next session is on Friday, from 11AM - 2PM."
"For this session, the students both focused on the essay portion of the exam. I paid closer attention to Student A, as he needed more preparation for the exam portion. We worked on timing, as well as organizing his thoughts within the 30-minute time frame."
