Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I had a great session. We worked on a bunch of stoichiometry problems, and limiting problems. We worked on learning the definitions of mole ratios, molar mass, and how to convert using balanced reactions."
"The student and I covered electronegativity, ionization energy, and atomic radius. We went over 40 problems relating to electron configuration of transition metals and ionic atoms. She has a exam this Friday so we spent time talking about big concepts that would be on the test."
"We covered conversion factors and significant figures, as well as scientific notation. The student seemed to struggle with significant figures, but he learned quickly as we went through the practice problems."
"We reviewed concepts that were on the student's test, including different definitions of acids and bases, shifts to equilibrium and working with the equilibrium constant, and rates of reaction and how different factors affect it. Overall, the session went well."
"We reviewed nomenclature and added additional polyatomic ions. The student was able to name compounds and write formulas after a couple minutes of review. I advised him to prepare flashcards to learn the polyatomic ions and to study the pattern for the how the number of oxygens relates to the ion ending. I also advised him to review the rules for naming binary I and binary II compounds. "
"We spent most of our time reviewing the student's physics test. He did not do well on it, so we reworked each question, even the few he got right. I showed him again how to pick out the different variables and choose a kinematic equation to go with those particular variables."
