Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student was working on kinematic equations, projectile motion, and Newton's 2nd law. She mainly just needed to master setting up the problems, and then she could see the way mathematically to the solution on her own. She shows good skill and promise in learning how to read problems and determine the information in them."
"Today we reviewed a homework sheet about kinetic energy and momentum. The student understands the difference between KE and momentum and how the two are related, and she answered some homework problems using formulas. She is working on committing the formulas to memory as they would make answering questions in the future much easier and quicker. She then worked through an ACT prep packet, discussing problem-solving strategies to eliminate answers quicker and more efficiently."
"We covered oscillations and sound intensity. She doesn't seem to be struggling, just needs to remember the equations more. Her attitude was positive."
"We spent the session on wave interference, superposition, and standing waves on a string. The student is doing well with combining the concepts of wave speed in general and on a string and with how to determine constructive or destructive interference."
"We went over a packet of the 40 most missed assessment exam multiple choice questions from the past year. The student struggled with some questions, but after talking it out I think understood why her original choices were wrong and how to answer the questions if she were to face something similar again. As always she was very attentive and was energetic throughout the session. For the final session I will be bringing a custom made packet of multiple choice and short answer questions and we will go over the whole thing together as a way to prepare for the assessment exam."
"We went over chemistry. This session went a lot smoother because the student gave me the heads up on what she wanted to study at the end of the previous session, so I was able to prepare explanations/examples in Spanish for these specific concepts of thermodynamics and kinetics. I left her with 4 more concepts to finish the chapter, which we will go over on Friday."
