Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over the Diels-Alder reaction. We focused on understanding how electron donating groups and electron withdrawing groups affected the regiochemistry of the reaction. We also worked on understanding the endo rule."
"Today, we went over chemical kinetics. In an attempt to switch up the tutoring process, we went through the material first, rather than just diving right into homework. After reviewing the section, the student worked on homework, asking far fewer questions than he normally does."
"We covered electric fields today. We calculated the electric field for different charge distributions. We learned the basics behind calculating the electric field for different line charges and how to break the problem down into infinitesimal pieces."
"The student started a new chapter on bonding and Lewis diagrams. We went over the rules for drawing Lewis diagrams including the octet rule, formal charges, electron distribution, etc. We then worked on worksheets that his teacher had given out. He found the material pretty easy."
"The student worked through her exam on radioactive elements for chemistry. We then switched to geometry and she worked through her exam on the Pythagorean theorem and solving similar triangles. She did well on both exams."
"The student and I reviewed her study guide for her biology exam. We covered photosynthesis and cellular respiration, ecology, animal behavior, bacteria, viruses, and the immune system. Overall she did very well; however, she should review photosynthesis, viruses, bacteria, and the immune system. Next week we will continue to study evolution and finish with ecology. She had a great attitude and seemed to have a strong desire to finish the semester with high scores. I have seen great improvement in her scores, and I am very proud of her progress."
