Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked through the review for her final. We covered solving equations using Gaussian Elimination and how to solve systems of equations on the calculator."
"We reviewed what we went over the prior week...we then went over polynomial long division and synthetic polynomial division....we started to learn the ins and outs of his graphing calculator...his assignment for next week is to read the manual for his graphing calculator and get a better understanding on how to use that specific calculator and to continue moving forward in the book to at least beginning chapter 5."
"We completed the homework questions on slope that the student had questions on. Then we did questions on rationals, absolute value and variation."
"We worked on solving proportions that exist within a triangle given a parallel line to a side or an angle bisector. We also used the Pythagorean Theorem in situations where a side of a right triangle had to be found before setting up the proportion. Pythagorean triples were also discussed. We spent some time setting up the triangles and matching the proper corresponding sides. It was a very good session - positive attitude - she liked the Pythagorean triple (time savers)."
"The student had some homework practice on the computer, so we began with a review of that. We went from addition practice (on computer) to math problems (4th grade!) to adding fractions, back to computer (multiplication), to drilling multiplication with flashcards, back to math!"
"We reviewed the rules for the math the student's class is currently going over (exponential growth and decay, and the exponential e) and then predicted that this would be leading to logarithms and natural logarithms, so we practiced using them to solve problems and derived some rules for adding, subtracting, and multiplying logarithms."
