Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I reviewed her study guide for her midterm tomorrow. We clarified her vocabulary and usage of grammar for everything that she has learned so far in class. This included facial grammar, leisure activities, commands, spelling, numbers, etc."
"We practiced/reviewed finger-spelling fluency with "The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dogs." We practiced/reviewed numbers 1-100. We focused on the importance of the numbers 11-25, as they are slightly different than other numbers. We practiced/reviewed leisure signs from the student's ASL unit. We will begin looking at the final signed song next session."
"We went over a take-home test in detail. Specific attention was given to identifying dummy subjects (based on whether they can be replaced with another noun). We also looked at the difference between present participle main verbs and gerunds, by seeing if the sentence sounded fine when we moved the '-ing' word in question. Finally, we identified standard, nonstandard, and ungrammatical sentences."
"I helped the student to conjugate some verbs in future and conditional tenses. We reviewed the verbal conjugation of regular and irregular verbs in future and conditional tenses. I explained to her the meaning in Spanish of some sentences written in English."
"The student was very positive and well prepared. We learned imperfect subjunctive and present subjunctive verbs. We also prepared vocabulary in chapel 1 and reviewed alienation and assimilation in new cultures."
"Today, we focused on formal, informal, and indirect commands. We also talked about the future tense. The student wrote some sentences using the future tense, and then I gave him a little quiz to make sure that he understands how to use the future tense. I also had him read a paragraph and then tell me what it was about to make sure that he understands how to read things in Spanish and interpret them. We then covered the past participle. He wrote good sentences using the past participle. I gave him a quiz, and he did very well."
