Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today the student and I worked on limits, including one-sided limits and limits with removable discontinuities. He worked through his homework problems, and then we worked on some extra practice problems that I gave him. I will also be emailing him extra problems to work on."
"Today the student periodically asked me questions about the exam review. It seems like the student is getting it, but I advised them to be REALLY careful when they're using product rule (especially for second derivatives)! I wish them the best on their exam!"
"Today the student was working through her take-home quiz on optimization. Her biggest problem with optimization was setting up the equations. I taught her some tricks and keywords to look for in terms of the word problems and it seemed to help. We then went back through her test review and went over all of it, and she seemed to do well with it."
"Today was a review/ wrap-up day. The student has a very solid grasp of the extrema problems and he is proficient with using the differentiation rules. Limits is the hardest topic for him, but he understands it much better now than when we began. I lent him my textbook so he has access to a good presentation of the material and loads of practice problems."
"Today was my first session with the student, and we were able to discuss some problems she had with her last quiz. She needed help with estimating the area under the curve and also with finding limits. I was able to help her through a few practice problems and explain some things to her to clear them up."
"Today was our final session before the student's final exam. We reviewed the more complicated subjects of Calculus I, including the formal definitions of limits and derivatives, related rates, integration by parts, and arc length. He continues to appear more and more ready for his final. I wish him the best of luck! He did some great work over the past several weeks!"
