"In class the student went over older topics that included adding and subtracting fraction, with many fractions. I taught him a new technique where he was to break down the problem into parts. This seemed to help him understand the concepts better, and solve these problems to the best of his ability."
"In math, the concepts included order of operations, solving for variables, exponents, and scientific notation. The student did not struggle much, as he was able apply his knowledge to complete certain problems. There were few concepts that he had forgotten, such as how to solve with a negative exponent, so we went over that in detail. In addition, I also helped him with his English/ language arts and history. It was only a matter of him going back to the textbook and looking for the source of the material to complete his assignments. His attitude was very positive and focused. His mother was very delighted to see that his confidence in the material has progressed."
"In our lesson today, we covered many subjects including exponent rules, FOILing, perimeter and area of squares with polynomials and scientific notation, just to name some off. He was paying close attention to how I showed my work to him and was very receptive. I look forward to our next lesson on Thursday."
"In preparation for the student's chemistry quiz the next day, we reviewed scientific notation and determined rules for significant figures (trailing zeroes, etc.) and rounding for both multiplying/dividing and adding/subtracting quantities. She was quite self-driven at this session and after some practice that helped her firm up the different rules between multiplying and adding, she consistently arrived at correct answers without my needing to cue her."
"In the session, we went over many algebra concepts that were applicable to her test. She was struggling the most with trying to decide what methods and strategies the teacher would accept and not accept on a test or exam, so she is going check back with her teacher tomorrow to find out more information. She was diligent in wanting to learn more and do well on her test/exam on Wednesday. I would only recommend going over what we had covered, making sure she goes over everything before the test and really making sure what methods her teacher was accepting and not accepting. I wish her all the best of luck on her test and exam, and I hope to be able to help her in the future."
"In this session we went over range, domain, sequence, and function. The student was able to determine if a group of inputs and outputs were functions, identify range and domain, determine a sequence, without help. He was able to determine the value for a straightforward function, but he was unsure how to calculate a function if f(x) was not the subject of the formula. After an initial explanation, he understood the problem statement and he was able to solve the function on his own. "
