Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During this session, he has shown markedly better grades on his practice exam. We reviewed the ISEE Upper Level Guide Practice exam. We focused mainly on the Verbal, Reading Comprehension, and Quantitative Reasoning sections. He struggled the most with words he was not exposed to previously as with prior tutoring sessions, but he did remember some words we went over. We focused on the use of context clue words in the sentence completion portion of the exam. He learned how to utilize words such as "despite" and "although" in order to figure out what words can be used. We then reviewed math concepts such as slope, the mean, median, mode, and range and how they can be tested. We also reviewed order of operations and FOIL or the distributive property. This was a very productive session, and I am sure with last minute review with the pdf documents that include review bullet points and important formulas he can feel more confident going into the exam on Saturday."
"We practiced verbal sections. We also went over essay strategies. He has a good grasp on organizing the essay. He has improved on the fill in the blank verbal question."
"During our session, we went over the schedule that we will follow for her next sessions that will take us up to her test date. We planned out timed sections for each day so she can become accustomed to the timing and working at a steady pace. Today she completed a timed verbal section. She did well in this section, but she will have to get used to the differences in practice problems. We also worked through several quantitative reasoning questions with which she struggled. I explained that it is important to make educated guesses on the test regardless of whether you feel confident about the selection or not. I am hoping as we do more practice in this book she will adjust to the more challenging questions. At the end of the session, we went through several essay prompts, and I had her explain to me which type of outline she would use and give an example of a response. She did a great job with this."
