Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I reviewed previous exams in preparation for her upcoming test. Topics covered included measures of center, z-scores, and percentiles."
"We went over the student's homework for the week, which covered probabilities, expected value of the sum, standard error of the sum, expected value of the mean, and standard error of the mean."
"Good session. We prepared for the test on z hypothesis testing and general analysis of normal distributions."
"During this session we focused on simple interest on a loan that is paid back in multiple installments. There were a few complicated steps to finding the solutions, including finding the interest accrued since the last payment, adding that interest to the remaining principal, subtracting the next payment from the total owed, and repeating that process until the invoice date. The student needed help with many of these steps, and we had the opportunity to talk through all of the steps multiple times, and his understanding improved over the session. His positive attitude towards learning difficult concepts was a huge help in getting through the problems. I left him with a similar problem (and the solution) to practice on his own. Although the material from this session was quite difficult, I noticed a huge change in his ability to work with and comfort with percents and decimals since the beginning of our tutoring. It seemed completely intuitive to him now, which is a huge win."
"The student and I covered a selection of sample questions from all four of this year's state assessment test math categories. She struggles with geometry the most, but could benefit from more practice with the other three categories as well. She was motivated to work on the material. I am excited to work with her! She has a great attitude. We'll start with geometry next session, and moving forward, we will get to all the other categories."
"Student A and I prepared and organized his upcoming science project on cell structures and organelle functions. He did not have any problems with this material. Additionally, he told me that he believes that he did very well on his math test on Friday. I look forward to seeing how he did on it. Student B and I worked on division today. He struggled a bit with some of the harder questions we went over, until we had done quite a few, and then he was able to get them all."
