Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In the session on Sunday we covered the open-ended portion of the state assessment test. We did different problems and looked at the answers. The student and I decided that to score the most points it is best that if she for sure knows the answer to answer in detail, but if she is less certain to be a little bit more general so she doesn't say something that would be counted as incorrect. She did very well in practicing for the state assessment test, and we will meet one more time to build a little more confidence. I think she will do great on the test."
"We reviewed pharmacokinetics as it pertains to drug plasma concentration curves, drug bio-availability, volume of distribution calculation and interpretation, and renal and hepatic drug clearance. The student disclosed that she initially had confusion about which values were important to typical pharmacology questions and how to use some formulas. I was able to provide clarification of the calculations and interpretations of formulas as it relates to patient safety throughout the presentation. The student began the session with practice questions and was able to explain the logic of both the correct and incorrect answers when we reviewed her answers prior to ending our session. I gave her a few more challenging questions that utilized drug extraction ratios for particular organ clearance of a drug and blood flow through an organ in order to help her see that drug volumes are not limited to the fluid compartments."
"We spent more time today discussing friction. We did some example problems, specifically with kinematics and friction. The student could use more practice with the friction problems, so we will keep that in mind going forward. We also briefly started discussing centripetal motion, and this will also come easier with more examples."
"To help the student prepare for his exam tomorrow, I made up a list of the important equations, and showed him how to use them. Then we went through some practice problems I had selected. I think he will do well on the exam."
"In today's session we worked on problems from the student's final review packet. We spent most of the time on limiting reactants and stoichiometry, then the remaining time on Lewis structures. She is going to keep working on her packet tonight and tomorrow, and then we will try and finish it and do last minute review together in our session on Wednesday."
"We prepped for her algebra final. She had a packet and we were able to go through every question. She did very well and I even made her do practice of some of the very beginning concepts from a different text book, which seemed to be a bit difficult. Our plan is to work through it more next time."
