Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I went over numbers and food with the student. I am trying to help her learn the names of fruits and the weather. We're doing this through song. I give her a tune and the words, and we record her singing it."
"In this session, I reviewed the texts of Lesson 1 & 2 by conversation. I taught the student initials, finals, and the text of Lesson 3. The student improved a lot in his pronunciation. His attitude toward the material was always positive, and I could tell he practices a lot after class. At the end of my class, I asked him to prepare the exercises of Lesson 3."
"Reviewed basic conversation - hello, how are you, what's your name, and what do you do. Practiced pronunciation, covered the differences in the way the letter i sounds. Learned numbers and a song to remember the numbers by."
"The student and I did a lot during the class. We mainly worked on building vocabulary, developing listening skills, and adjusting the tone of grammar rules within meaningful contexts. We also practiced sentence patterns, other syntax skills, and communicative and multicultural competence."
"We have learned the usage of resultative complement. We also covered some words and expression when coming to a Chinese restaurant, such as asking if there are seats available in a restaurant, how to order Chinese dishes, and how to tell the waiter your dietary preferences and restrictions. The student is very cooperative and I feel like asking him questions is an efficient way to draw his attention and to review the text."
"We watched a video about an idiom and talked about how to use the phrase. We also went through a new chapter. The student read the text and learned the new words and phrases. At the end, I let him talk about his favorite teacher in his life, describing the teacher's appearance, personality, and what made the teacher his favorite."
