Round Rock, TX GRE tutoring
The student was extremely well focused today!! He had his math homework workbook half done, and circled the problems he needed help on. Likewise, he had a Science reading/worksheet handout to complete by Thursday so we did half of it. English was vocabulary with a quiz coming up on Friday. When I left, he was working on the cover to a poetry folder for English class. Very well done today. Upcoming Tests/Quizzes: Science, Monday. Vocabulary, Friday.  Sometime next week: Spanish, including -er verbs.

Student 1: He scored 96 on the test we prepared for last week.  He also followed my advice, got better organized, and cleaned out his notebooks so he could easily access his completed assignments and turn them in on time.  He also told me that he bought some erasable pens and new journals.  We discussed astronomy and the aspects of the planets, Greek vs. Roman mythology, and worked on his journal of quotations and interpretations of Romeo and Juliet. Student 2:  We worked on her four essays for her social studies book report on the Civil War and then completed he rvocabular reading and questions on Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius. According to student 3, school was almost over and there were really no new lessons being taught in school, so this was the last tutoring session.

We did parts of a previously administered test that I found online. The student has a slight weakness in English/reading, but other than that, the issue is needing to review some important concepts (e.g., evolution, species, niches). We created a concept/vocabulary list for her that she is to rewrite and re-read before our next session on Tuesday.

Today, the student and I spent more time reviewing concepts that will likely appear on the math portion of the GRE. Ahead of our session, she had reviewed concepts in geometry, and worked through a few different sets of practice problems that I had sent her. We spent the session going over those problems on which she encountered difficulties. The majority of our time was spent on problems from the circles set of questions, and we discussed how to sketch out/visualize certain types of problems, as well as what sorts of relationships always hold true for circles in common GRE scenarios. We also spent some time discussing problems from the solid geometry set. She is taking the GRE this upcoming Monday, and will touch base with me after the exam for more review, if needed.
