Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I gave the student a practice trig exam. Our next session will be spent reviewing this exam and drilling concepts."
"The student and I continued our work in trigonometry. We started this session by focusing on mastering a couple skills important to finding a trig function of any angle - creating a right triangle with one of the axes and finding the reference angle. The first half is very easy for the student, but he still has difficulty remembering how to find reference angles. I will continue to tutor him on this skill until he has it down. We spent the second half of the session reviewing the "special" right triangles (30-60-90 and 45-45-90), and how to determine the ratios of their sides using the Pythagorean Theorem."
"We reviewed the student's homework on addition/subtraction formulas and reviewed trig identities and the Pythagorean identities and its uses."
"The student and I worked through his review packets on differential equations and applications of derivatives. The student picks up concepts quickly and benefits considerably from talking about the concepts with a knowledgeable person."
"Today we worked on math. Our first quarter-hour or so was spent doing problems from the student's workbook. We spent the rest of the hour going over how to multiply two-digit numbers. He took to it quickly, advancing rapidly to three digit numbers. I left him with two problems to finish by our next session."
"Today the student worked on her chemistry homework and made corrections to her literary analysis. For chemistry, we worked on setting up and evaluating systems of equations that use gas laws and mass equations. After doing numerous problems, she seemed to be understanding the material and was able to replicate the equations in the last few problems."
