Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We started by having the student read from his book Stars & Stripes. He was consistent in his reading but slow. He then worked on a character chart choosing traits and evidence to prove those traits."
"The student chose to read a red-dot snake book, titled "SSSNAKE" by Lucille Recht Penner. He read it aloud and was doing well with fluency. This book was at the third grade level, and it was great to see him making comments throughout the text showing his comprehension of what was being read. We moved on to his homework log and documented questions from this text on the Monday portion. The next text was a non-fiction "George Washington" blue-dot book by Wil Mara. He answered the Tuesday portion of his homework, answering and defining difficult vocabulary. For the Wednesday part of his log, he chose to read "Actual Size" by Steve Jenkins, and answered the imagery vocabulary portion. He did a great job and stuck it out having read 3 texts, and then moved on to a fluency-builder worksheet. We will continue to utilize his reading tab, and marking pages where he struggles with vocabulary by post-it note."
"The student read a short story and answered reading comprehension questions. We also practiced spelling sight words. He revised one of his literature journals."
