Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We finished up the semester exam for geometry and will continue onto semester two for geometry starting tomorrow. I asked the student to preview the next unit on similarity, specifically ratios and proportions for tomorrow."
"We found the points of concurrency of a triangle by graphing vertices and constructing midpoints, perpendicular bisectors, angle bisectors, medians, and altitudes. We connected the midsegments, exploited theorems to find missing angle and segment measures, and identified ratios of important right triangles. We also derived inequalities from the hinge theorem."
"We had a general review of all the quadratic function material we've covered in the last few weeks. The student seems quite competent and was solving 90% of the problems without much intervention from me. He has a take-home test to finish on his own. He is much more independent and focused than last year."
"We had a long session on higher degree polynomials, how they graph, what they look like, odd vs. even symmetry, local min and local max, intervals of decreasing and increasing, zeros, multiplicity in zeros, end behavior, and limits. The student has a test on Thursday, and this was a review."
"We introduced ourselves and talked about what she needs help in. She is comfortable with the level of geometry she is currently on, but she knows the subject will get more difficult. The student seems to be a very bright and motivated student. We will be meeting again soon."
"We introduced vertical angles, complementary and supplementary angles, and adjacent angles and their relationships. We also dug deeper into proofs. The student will do the review problems, and we will talk about the things he didn't get next week."
