"The student and I covered composite of functions and writing word problems as functions. She needed help with how to form a function from a word problem, so we went over that in detail. At the end, I gave her two sheets (pictures) of two of the problems and how to use slope and y-intercepts to form the equations."
"The student and I covered continuity, limits, and the intermediate value theorem for polynomial, rational, radical, and piecewise functions. The student asked a well amount of questions for each topic that we covered, and he was really focused during the entire session. I taught him how to calculate by direct inspection what the values for limits are at infinity for certain rational and polynomial functions."
"The student and I covered his midterm review. We covered the domain of a function first. We then discussed continuity, how it relates to whether the derivative can be taken, and determined whether functions were continuous or differentiable. We also covered taking the derivative using the limit definition."
"The student and I covered how to sketch graphs given a function by calculating the zeroes of the function, finding the first and second derivative, finding critical points, and more broadly thinking about the terms of polynomials that define the behavior of the function as a variable approaches positive and negative infinity. We also covered finding horizontal and vertical asymptotes. She is really improving her algebra, as well as her conceptual understanding of the material."
"The student and I covered problems on implicit differentiation and finding the equation of a tangent to a curve defined by a polynomial in x and y. We spent some time on force problems involving acceleration along an incline and kinetic friction."
"The student and I covered the integration of polynomial functions, double integrals, and calculus terminology. He was attentive, active, and productive throughout the session."
