Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we did a lot of review for the student's upcoming test on linear equations, in particular standard, point-slope, and slope-intercept forms. We also went over some content on statistical analysis of linear correlations. She is doing very well, and I'd bet this test is going to be great."
"Today we discussed geometry and solving slopes, midpoints, and lengths of triangles using the Pythagorean theorem. The student was struggling with remembering formulas. The student was lacking motivation at first, but became more comfortable and confident in the middle of the session and showed more interest towards the end. I gave the student specific studying and practicing tips like writing out ALL of the steps and problem prepping on scrap paper before attempting each problem. I will be sending the student practice problems within the next few days. She was much more interested and confident than the last time she was being tutored. She still needs to concentrate more."
"Today we finished up Unit 2. The student focused on setting up linear equations based on real-world situations and solving for different variables. We were able to finish Unit 2."
"Today we reviewed arithmetic sequences. We wrote both the explicit and recursive form. We did several problems and the student got a good handle of them. I also gave her a few of my own and we reviewed system of equations with three variables. This was to make sure she understood the topic we covered today as well as a quick way to solve the system of equations that she learned the other day. It was a great session. I look forward to many more."
"Today we reviewed equations involving exponential growth and decay, compound and continuous interest, and other exponential equations. After working through a few problems, the student demonstrated a very good understanding of this material. Not only just the plug-and-play aspects -- this student has mastered an understanding of PEMDAS (order of operations), and can manipulate equations other than the 5 or 6 formulas she is meant to memorize."
"Today we reviewed for the student's test on equations of a line. He did very well on all of the material. The only thing that he needs to remember is that the slope of a perpendicular line is the negative reciprocal of the slope of the line in question. Good luck tomorrow!"
