Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The session went well. We went over some word problems that were assigned to the students. Given some paragraph, the students separated the information in two categories: relevant to the solution or irrelevant to the solution. Once the information was correctly identified, the students were supposed to solve the problem or mention why the problem had no solution. Both students were engaged throughout the session. Finally I gave them an interesting word problem for them to work on throughout the week."
"We went over problems that she didn't understand from today's test and review problems for tomorrow's quiz. Her test was on factoring, specifically focusing on perfect squares and difference of two squares. Her quiz is a review of the first five chapters."
"During today's session I worked with the student on graphing parallel lines. We reviewed how to find the y intercept and slope of an equation and how to tell if two lines are parallel. We also went over some simple notation for describing lines. The student is fairly consistent when he graphs. We worked on his homework worksheet on ratios and unit rates. He has a very good grasp what he needs to do to solve problems."
"During this session, the student and I worked on mostly math with a little English at the end. We worked on her review sheet for her test, which went well. She was definitely more confident when it came to identifying the appropriate function to use for her word problems. We discussed the importance of rereading the problem whenever we got stuck in order to remind us what we were looking for and what our answers should be labelled as. At the end, we reviewed some vocabulary and practiced using the words in sentences."
"The student and I worked on and finished her set theory project, with all her charts and diagrams and put them all in her document. She only needs to really reword a few of her descriptions for grammatical issues. She did get her last exam back and she received a 93% which I am really impressed with, she's doing a great job despite the visual aspects of the class. No real concerns with the section or the project I think she's doing great!"
"The student and I worked on linear regression, focusing mainly on calculating line of best fit and correlation."
